Our Project Manager
Surat-Shaan Knan works for Liberal Judaism and is a Diversity Consultant, Heritage Manager, and Public Speaker, based in London (UK).
Between 2012-2018, Shaan was the founder and manager of the landmark Heritage Lottery Fund supported projects Rainbow Jews , Twilight People and Rainbow Pilgrims hosted by Liberal Judaism.
Shaan is a member of the Oral History Society, Museums Association and is currently part of the Associateship of the Museums Association (AMA) programme.
Shaan works in various capacities across sectors and communities and has delivered numerous keynote speeches, presentations, workshops and training units, including Stonewall Workplace Conference (London 2019 & Edinburgh 2017).
Other projects include: AHRC funded project Ritual Reconstructed in collaboration with Buckinghamshire New University, Portsmouth University, and Coventry University (2015/16), and Through a Queer Lens, an Arts Council England supported portrait exhibition by Ajamu and The Jewish Museum London (Feb 2016).
Shaan has an M.A. degree in Psychology, Journalism and Theatre, and has worked internationally for over two decades as educator, creative producer and project coordinator with numerous international organisations including Sydney Western University.
