Lily’s Legacy – the landmark heritage project documenting Liberal Judaism’s radical history, inspired by our pioneering founder Lily Montagu – has two exciting dates for your diaries.
A Faith Heritage Learning Day will take place on Wednesday 27 October at the Jewish Museum London. It will examine topics around the theme of Religion & Belief, including looking Judaism, interfaith/multi-faith, archives, community history, education and Holocaust studies.
The conference is free and will be streamed live via Zoom. You can register for the link via Eventbrite by clicking here.
We are also happy to be able to offer a limited amount of in-person places in the Museum’s Education Room. Please apply by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Covid restrictions may apply at short notice.
Presenters/talks at the conference will include:
Thamar Barnett, heritage practitioner: The production of the LLP education toolkit for schools and chederim
Dr Toni Griffiths: Connecting Small Histories, Educational Resources
Pam Fox, author: Jews by the Seaside (her new book)
Dawn Waterman, Heritage and Archives Manager at the Board of Deputies: Celebrating Jewish archives in Britain

Then, on Thursday 18 November, the London Metropolitan Archives (LMA) will hold a free Lily’s Legacy Archive Skills Training event from 1pm – 4pm.
The afternoon starts with an introduction to the LMA and what archiving is all about; there will be object handling and an overview of different archiving processes and techniques, focusing on community heritage.
Training participants are invited to hone their skills hands-on and help the project team catalogue and deposit the Lily’s Legacy Project collection at the LMA.
For more information and to apply for the training, please contact Project Manager Shaan Knan on email@example.com.
Lily’s Legacy: The Radical History and Heritage of Liberal Judaism in Britain has been running since November 2018, examining how the Liberal Jewish movement embodies the vision of its founders – Lily Montagu, Claude Montefiore and Rabbi Dr Israel Mattuck – both today and throughout its history. It is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
